Year 2000 Compliance Statement

Electronic Measuring Devices, Inc. has taken all the necessary measures to insure that its Sceptre™ software will functionally operate without interruption, before, on and after January 1^st of the leap year 2000. Our investigations clearly indicate that Sceptre™ software does not process on a date field and we have not found any code that is dependent on calculations that are date related.

With the recognition that our products do have a direct reliance on a supplier-furnished operating system and firmware, we are currently testing all of our deliverable systems, hardware and software, for Y2K compliance before shipment. We will continue this Y2K testing through and into the year 2000 and be particularly attentive to updates and new releases from our suppliers.

Each of our installed base of Sceptre™ Systems Users, particularly those installed between 1985 and 1995, are cautioned to test the operating system and the firmware using the procedure below and notify and enlist our assistance should non-compliance or any anomalies be found.

Year 2000 Testing and Evaluation Procedure

Power Cycle Test for Year 2000 Rollover
Hardware Real-time Clock & Operating System Clock

Test 1

Power-off test: (For systems with a battery powered clock)
Set system date to 12-31-99 and time to 23:59.

Turn computer off and leave power off for more than one minute.
Turn power on and reboot system.
Check the system date. It should be 01-01-2000.

If the date is not 01-01-2000, the computer exhibits a Year 2000 flaw.

Test 2

Power-on test: (For systems with / without a battery powered clock)
With the computer on, set the system date to 12-31-1999 and the time to 23:59.

Wait for more than one minute.

Check that the system year has changed to 2000.

Reboot and check that the system year is still 2000.

If the year displayed by the system does not remain at 2000, the computer exhibits a Year 2000 flaw.

Test 3

Systems without a clock and operating system test.

Set application date to 01-01-2000.

Display or print the date.

If the application will not accept, display or print the date correctly, the application exhibits a Year 2000 flaw.
